June 27, 2008 Novi, Michigan. Officials are still investigating the cause of a fire that burned a Novi barn to the ground Friday evening, said Novi Fire Chief Frank Smith.
The barn, located at 42000 13 Mile Road, just east of Novi Road, was not inhabited by animals or attached to any other structure, Smith said.
“It did bring down a Detroit Edison line behind the barn and there was a power outage for a short while Friday evening,” he said. “Edison was on the scene shortly after 9 p.m. and power was expected to be back on by midnight.”
Smith said residents of Hometown Novi Mobile Home Park, located northeast of the barn, were among the community members who experienced power outages Friday evening.
There is a house for sale on the property, but no residents were on the scene at the time of the incident.
“It got going and just went to the ground,” Smith said of the structure.
The 911 call came in at 8:07 p.m. and the first unit was on scene within five minutes.
Smith said the fire was done burning at about 8:50 p.m. - Detroit Free Press
